UPSC CAPF 2023: Application Form, Exam Date, Eligibility, Pattern, Syllabus & Result

UPSC CAPF 2023 Online Applications will be released soon. The Union Public Service Commission will hold a written exam for the recruitment of Assistant Commandants (Group A) within the Central Armed Police Forces (UPSC CAPF). The exam is predicted to be conducted within August 2023, the applications that are to be released in April 2023.

The mode of availability and submission of applications are going to be completely online. Successfully registered candidates are going to be able to download the admit card and appear for the exam. this article provides the interested candidates detailed information associated with UPSC CAPF 2023.

CAPF 2023 Notification: To be released

The written examination to be conducted by Union Public Service Commission will be held on 08th August, 2023 and will comprise two papers. Paper I will be held from 10 a.m. to 12.00 Noon and Paper II will be held from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

UPSC CAPF 2023 Main Highlights:

Service allocation is going to be made based on position within the merit list and also the service preferences given at the time of filling the Detailed application form (DAF).
Admission of candidates at all the stages of the examination is going to be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.
The commission provides the facility of withdrawal of application for those candidates who don’t want to appear for the examination.
Only a black ballpoint pen should be used for writing within the exam. All other types and colors of pens are prohibited.
Appearing candidates who will clear their qualifying exam, with proof, before submission of DAF are eligible to apply too.

UPSC CAPF 2023 Application Form:

(a) Candidates are required to apply Online using the link https://www.upsconline.nic.in Detailed
instructions for filling up Online Applications are available on the above mentioned website.

(b) The applicants are advised to submit only single application. However, if due to any unavoidable
situation, he/she submits another/multiple applications, then he/she must ensure that application
with the higher RID is complete in all respects like applicants details, examination centre,
photograph, signature, fee etc. The applicants who are submitting multiple applications should note
that only the application with higher RID (Registration ID) shall be entertained by the Commission
and fee paid against one RID shall not be adjusted against any other RID.

(c) All candidates, whether already in Government Service, Government owned industrial
undertakings or other similar organisations or in private employment should submit their
applications direct to the Commission.
Persons already in Government service, whether in permanent or temporary capacity or as work charged employees other than casual or daily rated employees or those serving under the Public
Enterprises are however, required to inform in writing their Head of Office/Department that they have
applied for the Examination.
Candidates should note that in case a communication is received from their employer by the
Commission withholding permission to the candidates applying for/appearing at the examination,
their application will be liable to be rejected/ candidature will be liable to be cancelled.

NOTE 1 : While filling in his/her Online Application Form, the candidate should carefully
decide about his/her choice for the Centre for the Examination.
If any candidate appears at a centre other than the one indicated by the Commission in his/her
e-Admission Certificate, the papers of such a candidate will not be evaluated and his/her
candidature will be liable to cancellation.

NOTE 2 : Incomplete or defective applications shall be summarily rejected. No representation or
correspondence regarding such rejection shall be entertained under any circumstances.

NOTE 3 : Candidates are not required to submit Hard Copy of their applications to the Commission at
this stage.

UPSC CAPF 2023 Application fee:

Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required
to pay fee of Rs.200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) either by remitting the money in any Branch of
State Bank of India or by using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card or by using Internet Banking
of SBI. Applicants who opt for “Pay by Cash” mode should print the system generated Pay-in-slip
during part II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day
only. “Pay by Cash” mode will be deactivated at 23.59 hours of 04.05.2023 i.e. one day before the
closing date; however applicants who have generated their Pay-in- Slip before it is deactivated may pay at the counter of SBI Branch during banking hours on the closing date. Such applicants who are
unable to pay by cash on the closing date i.e during banking hours at SBI Branch, for reasons
whatsoever, even if holding valid pay-in-slip will have no other offline option but to opt for available
online Debit/Credit Card or Internet Banking payment mode on the closing date i.e. till 18:00 Hours
of 05.05.2023.

Note: 1. Candidates should note that payment of examination fee can be made only through the
modes prescribed above. Payment of fee through any other mode is neither valid nor acceptable.
Applications submitted without the prescribed fee/mode (unless remission of fee is claimed) shall be
summarily rejected.

Note: 2. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor can the fee be held in
reserve for any other examination or selection.

Note: 3. For the applicants in whose case payments details have not been received from the bank,
they will be treated as fictitious payment cases and their applications will be rejected in the first
instance. A list of all such applicants shall be made available on the Commission website within two
weeks after the last day of submission of Online Application. The applicants shall be required to
submit the proof of their fee payment within 10 days from the date of such communication either by
hand or by speed post to the Commission. On receipt of documentary proof, genuine fee payment
cases will be considered and their applications will be revived, if they are otherwise eligible.

ALL FEMALE CANDIDATES AND CANDIDATES BELONGING TO SCHEDULED CASTES/
SCHEDULED TRIBES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PAY ANY FEE. NO FEE EXEMPTION IS,
HOWEVER, AVAILABLE TO OBC/EWS CANDIDATES AND THEY ARE REQUIRED TO PAY THE
FULL PRESCRIBED FEE.

UPSC CAPF Eligibility Criteria 2023:

Nationality : No person who is not a citizen of India shall, except with the consent of the Central
Government signified in writing be appointed or employed under these Rules.
Provided that nothing contained in these rules shall debar the appointment, enrolment or employment of a
subject of Nepal or Bhutan under these Rules.
(II) Sex : Both Male and Female candidates are eligible for appointment to the post of Assistant
Commandants.
(III) Age Limits :
(a) A candidate must have attained the age of 20 years and must not have attained the age of 25 years
on 1st August, 2023, i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1996 and not later
than 1st August, 2001.
(b) The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable.
(i) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled
Tribe.
(ii) upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes
who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
(iii) upto a maximum of five years for Civilian Central Government Servants in accordance with the
existing instructions of the Central Government. Ex-Servicemen will also be eligible for this
relaxation. However the total relaxation claimed on account of Government Service will
be limited to five years.

Nationality:

Only the citizens of India are eligible to apply aside from those with the consent of the Central Government signified in writing.
Gender:

Both male and feminine candidates are eligible for appointment to the post of Assistant Commandants.

Age criteria:

Candidates within the age group 20 to 25 years as on 1st August 2023 are eligible.
Relaxation in upper age:
5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ ST category
3 years for candidates belonging to OBC category
5 years for Civilian Central Government Servants/ Ex-Servicemen
5 years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled within the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 1st January 1980 to the 31st day of December 1989

Academic qualification:

The applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in any field obtained from a recognized university.

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2023:

Paper I : General Ability and Intelligence – 250 Marks
The questions in this paper will be of Objective (Multiple Answers) Type in which the questions will be
set in English as well as Hindi.
Paper II : General Studies, Essay and Comprehension – 200 Marks
In this paper candidates will be allowed the option of writing the Essay Component in English or
Hindi, but the medium of Precis Writing, Comprehension Components and other communications/
language skills will be English only.

UPSC CAPF 2023 Syllabus:

A basic idea of the UPSC CAPF 2023 syllabus has been provided below:

Paper I : General Ability and Intelligence
The objective type questions with multiple choices in this paper will broadly cover the following areas:
1. General Mental Ability:
The questions will be designed to test the logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude including numerical
ability, and data interpretation.
2. General Science:
The questions will be set to test general awareness, scientific temper, comprehension and appreciation
of scientific phenomena of everyday observation including new areas of importance like Information
Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science.
3. Current Events of National and International Importance:
The questions will test the candidates’ awareness of current events of national and international
importance in the broad areas of culture, music, arts, literature, sports, governance, societal and
developmental issues, industry, business, globalisation, and interplay among nations.
4. Indian Polity and Economy:
The questions shall aim to test candidates’ knowledge of the Country’s political system and the
Constitution of India, social systems and public administration, economic development in India,
regional and international security issues and human rights including its indicators.
5. History of India :
The questions will broadly cover the subject in its social, economic and political aspects. This shall
also include the areas of growth of nationalism and freedom movement.
6. Indian and World Geography:
The questions shall cover the physical, social and economic aspects of geography pertaining to India
and the World.

Paper II : General Studies, Essay and Comprehension
Part-A – Essay questions which are to be answered in long narrative form either in Hindi or English
totaling 80 Marks. The indicative topics are modern Indian history especially of the freedom struggle,
geography, polity and economy, knowledge of security and human rights issues, and analytical ability.
Part-B – Comprehension, précis writing, other communications/language skills – to be attempted in
English only (Marks 120) – The topics are Comprehension passages, précis writing, developing counter
arguments, simple grammar and other aspects of language testing.

UPSC CAPF Admit Card 2023:

Admit card to appear within the exam are going to be released approx. 3 weeks before the exam date.
Candidates are going to be able to download the admit card by visiting the official website www.upsconline.nic.in.
A copy of the admit card should be carried to the exam center together with a valid identity proof.
Those with any difficulty in downloading the admit card can contact the commission providing details of their registration.
Entry into the exam hall won’t be granted without the admit card and id proof under any circumstances.

UPSC CAPF 2023 Result:

The result of the written test is going to be announced online and maybe checked to form the official website of UPSC.
Qualified candidates will then need to appear for Physical Standard Test (PST)/ Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and medical test.
After this, an interview/ personality test of the candidates also will be conducted.
Clearing of these rounds will make the candidates eligible to participate within the further rounds of selection.

The centres and the date of holding the examination as mentioned above are liable to be changed at
the discretion of the Commission. Applicants should note that there will be a ceiling on the number of
candidates allotted to each of the Centres, except Chennai, Dispur, Kolkata and Nagpur. Allotment of
Centres will be on the “first-apply-first allot” basis, and once the capacity of a particular Centre is
attained, the same will be frozen. Applicants, who cannot get a Centre of their Choice due to ceiling,
will be required to choose a Centre from the remaining ones. Applicants are, thus, advised that they
may apply early so that they may apply early so that they could get a Centre of their choice.
NB : Notwithstanding the aforesaid provision, Commission reserve the right to change the
Centres at their discretion if the situation demands.
