Also, Uniform is a very important feature within the life of a soldier. any to have a sense of uniformity there can’t be any deviations from the laid down specifications. let us understand the dresses worn within the Indian Air Force.

Indian Air Force Uniform Dress No 1:
(WINTER CEREMONIAL DRESS)

DETAILS OF DRESS:
Blue-gray terry wool trousers.
Light Blue terry cot full sleeve shirt with plain black tie.
Peak Cap/Navy Blue turban badges and light-weight Blue beneath turban.
Plain black socks.
Black OP Shoes.
Entitled full medals and decorations.
Entitled aircrew and alternative proficiency badges.
Grey name tab.
Aiguillettes for Air rank officers.
White webbing for parades once so prescribed.

OCCASIONS OF WEARING:
Formal receiving/calling/departure of :
Foreign Heads of States/Prime Ministers on State visits solely.
Foreign Heads of States/Prime Ministers on State visits solely.
Royalty.
Chief of the military employees, Chief of the naval employees and Chief of the Air employees.
Visits by the President of India.
State ceremonials, i.e., Investitures at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Proclamation Parades, Independence Day celebrations, Republic Day Parade, Martyrs’ Day or the other occasions notified as such.
Courts-Martial.
Guards of Honour.
At ceremonies and entertainments once the local commander considers it fascinating to do special Honour to its occasionally.
Reception of foreign VIPs, eg. Ministers of cabinet rank, Chiefs of employees, Commander-in-Chief of a State and defense force, Goodwill missions on official state visits.
When a visiting Head of State of a foreign country holds a reception.
Individuals witnessing/participating in ceremonial parades.

Light Blue terry cot half sleeve shirt with silk rank braid on shoulders with Collar Tags as applicable.
Blue-gray terry cot trousers.
Narrow blue-gray nylon belt with chrome-plated IAF crest on the belt buckle.
Peak cap/Navy Blue turban with authorized turban badge and light blue band beneath turban.
Plain black socks.
Black OP shoes.
Entitled aircrew badges and alternative proficiency badges.
Entitled full medals and decorations.
Grey name tab.
Aiguillettes for Air rank officers.
White webbing on parades, once so prescribed.

President of India

State ceremonials, i.e. Investitures at Rashtrapati Bhawan, Proclamation Parades, Independence Day celebrations, Republic Day parade, Martyrs’ Day, or the other occasions notified as such.
Courts-Martial.
Guards of honor.
When a visiting Head of State of a foreign country holds a reception.
Individuals witnessing/participating in ceremonial parades.
When parading with airmen, eg. Proclamation Parades, Investiture Parades, Independence Day Parade, Republic Day Parade, Martyrs’ Day Parade, Guard of Honour, State/Military ceremonial Parades, Attestation Parades, Service and alternative anniversary Parades, etc.

To be utilized in field formation at specified units throughout the specified period at the discretion of AOC-in-C. once dress No.7 is authorized, Dress No.5 won’t be worn simultaneously at the same location throughout the specified amount.
To be employed by field units once visiting formation headquarters on temporary duty attachment.

(LIGHT WINTER WORKING DRESS)

DETAILS OF DRESS:
Blue Terrycot Full sleeve shirt with shoulder Flaps.
Rank braid on shoulders. (Same color as shirt material as for summer uniform.
BG Terrywool trouser.
Grey Name Tab.
Plain Black Tie. To be worn in a manner that covers half of the buckle of the belt.
Blue narrow Nylon Belt as worn with summer working dress.
Entitled aircrew badge/Brevet.
Side cap/navy blue turban with authorized turban badge and light-weight blue band beneath turban.
Plain Black socks
Black OP shoes.

OCCASIONS TO WEAR:
The working dress once prescribed.
Visiting different Units/Formations/Ministries once prescribed.

White terrycloth full sleeve shirt without a collar.
Peak Cap/navy blue turban with authorized turban badge and light blue band beneath turban.

Black OP shoes.
Entitled miniature medals.
Miniature zari wing/brevet (where entitled).

Aiguillettes for Air rank officers.

State functions, e.e., Banquets, Dinners, formal entertainments, and receptions once dusk at Rashtrapati Bhavan/Raj Bhavan.
State functions once dusk in honor of the foreign Heads of state/Heads of State of their countries.
Receptions and functions once dusk by Heads of Diplomatic Missions to satisfy Heads of State of Head Countries.
Entertainments in service institutions although informal social once dusk.
Dining in service Messes and different service functions as is also ordered.
When a visiting Heads of State of the foreign country holds a reception once dusk and on formal dinners.
